Preparation

There’s a hurricane churning in the Atlantic Ocean, so many areas of the world are in chaos, there was another — yet another — shooting at a school yesterday; and I’m working today to prepare for a drop spindle demo I’ll do on Sunday afternoon that will be part of the opening reception for the exhibit “Journey to the Golden Fleece” at the Bellefonte Art Museum in central Pennsylvania.   As I work, I am hoping that by sharing spinning — this gentle, beautiful, useful craft — with others, I am participating in one aspect of the antidote: modeling peacefulness and creativity and the value of the arts to promote well-being.  Some people work in very direct ways to affect change, some of us work quietly and seemingly with more detachment, but with no less intention.
