From the intro to “Self Sufficient Life and How to Live It,” by John Seymour:

“To allow ourselves to be dependent on some vast Thing created by the Merchants of Greed is madness…”

“A true home should be the container for reviving real hospitality, true culture and conviviality, real fun, solid comfort, and above all, real civilization. And the most creative thing that anybody can do in this world is to make a real home. Indeed, the homemaker is as important as the house, and being a “housewife” is the most creative, most important job on Earth.”

Wishing fellow artist-homemakers out there a deeply-lived in, creatively vibrant home!

  1. So true. I just visited my bestie from high school and she was so welcoming and made us a wonderful meal and her son was so happy, also her well cared-for husband. She is a part time massage therapist (very part time) volunteer and the best wife mom and hostess in her town.

    • Hello Heidi! When I read the quote it was an affirmation and a kind of attitude adjustment. I felt reassured.
